Hot or Chopped / Data & deletion
Face Switch data and deletion
Your controls for face processing, temporary media, saved exports, campaign progress and optional Apple services.
Applies to Hot or Chopped: Face Switch for iOS, including the behavior audited in version 0.9.5 (195).
Camera access and local matching
Change Camera permission for Face Switch in iOS Settings. The public cast demo works without camera access. ARKit/TrueDepth or Vision expression matching runs on your device. Raw expression vectors, calibration samples and fitted pose templates are held in process memory for calibration and play, including reuse across rounds; they are not uploaded to the publisher or Game Center.
The game separately writes four temporary reference photographs and numeric recognition/gameplay records. Numeric records can include pose numbers, matching confidence, tracking/accepted/neutral flags, timing, hit decisions and results, even when video replay is Off. They do not contain raw vectors, fitted templates or image pixels. Optional replays and result-photo exports can contain your face.
Hiding Live camera at bottom hides the preview, not expression tracking. Prefer expression tracking is a preference and does not guarantee ARKit/TrueDepth is disabled. Deny camera permission or use the public cast demo to avoid camera-based play.
Replacing poses and leaving the game
A successful retake writes a replacement JPEG and attempts to remove that pose's previous temporary JPEG. Capture 4 New Poses resets the active calibration state and attempts to remove the previous reference files. File removal is best effort and can fail. This is not a blanket deletion of existing replays, result exports or copies already saved elsewhere.
Pausing, backgrounding, choosing a song or reusing poses does not delete the active references. Leaving the challenge releases its view through the normal lifecycle; when the native game view is destroyed, it attempts to remove tracked temporary photographs and round files. If the process ends before cleanup runs, the first native game view created in a new app process attempts to remove abandoned native temporary files. There is no fixed deletion timer, and file-removal failures can delay or prevent cleanup.
Result-photo outputs tracked by the current screen are scheduled for deletion on the next round or screen unmount. Interrupted/untracked result-cache files have no fixed expiration or verified startup sweep and may remain until iOS removes them or the app is deleted. Updating the app does not guarantee that older local media or metadata is purged.
Recording is your choice
Turn Save gameplay replay Off in Game Settings to stop new video recordings. It starts On in the updated app, with confirmation required before the first recording; you can turn it Off before confirming. Confirmed Off choices are preserved when settings load. Earlier versions may have different defaults. Turning video recording Off does not erase an existing video or stop numeric round records.
Include live camera in replay controls the live-camera panel and defaults On. Turning it Off does not remove the four reference photographs shown as gameplay cards. The microphone stays Off. Review a video before saving or sharing it. iOS controls recording permission and may request it again.
Completed-round cleanup keeps the current numeric record and last successfully encoded video. A newer successful recording replaces the older video; the older video can remain if a later recording is disabled or fails. Temporary recordings are not a permanent archive: explicitly save or share a replay you want to keep.
Reset Game Settings restores controls and timing, including replay On, while preserving progress, poses and saved privacy/recording acknowledgements. It is not a deletion control, and it does not ask for a new first-recording acknowledgement if one was already supplied. There is no dedicated Delete Replay or Delete Temporary Files button in the current game.
Saved copies, backups and app removal
Save adds a supported result photograph or replay to Photos after permission. Share opens the iOS share sheet; the destination you choose receives the export. Delete external copies in Photos, Files or the service where they exist. App cleanup cannot delete those copies. Changing Photos permission affects future saves; it does not erase existing items.
Native face/replay files use iOS temporary storage, and result-photo exports use Caches. iOS normally excludes those directories from iCloud and computer-device backups; the app does not set an additional backup-exclusion flag. Persistent settings, consent, progress and Game Center sync state may be backed up. Older app data can have different storage/backup eligibility. The app does not guarantee that every file or user-created copy is excluded from backup.
Photos copies may synchronize through iCloud Photos according to your settings. Manage existing backups separately through Apple's or your computer's backup controls. Deleting the app removes its local app container and can remove campaign progress; offloading can retain app data. App deletion does not remove existing backups, Photos exports, shared copies, support emails or Apple-held scores.
Manage Apple-held scores
You can decline Game Center and still play the campaign. Leaderboards can be viewed from the main menu after consent/authentication; eligible score submission requires clearing Level 1 on Easy. Later earned scores can sync while you remain signed in and have consented. Game Center receives gameplay score/context and player identity, not reference photographs, camera footage, raw measurements, templates, local recognition logs or replays.
Manage or sign out of Game Center in device Settings to stop new score submissions while signed out. Signing out or deleting Face Switch does not delete your Game Center account or scores Apple already holds. Manage those services through Apple's account and privacy controls. See Game Center & Privacy.
Contact the publisher
For information you deliberately sent to support, request access, correction or deletion at viral4offical@gmail.com. The publisher has no remote access through the app to retrieve your face templates or local recordings. A support attachment creates a separate email copy; local app cleanup does not delete it. Do not include passwords or private media unless you deliberately choose to supply that media.
Apple and your selected sharing/email services control their own copies, storage regions and retention. The publisher cannot remove those independent copies through app-session cleanup.
